Second Explosion "On the Horizon"

10-3-04- Scientists say the latest shakeup at Mount St. Helens means the volcano in Washington state is still getting ready to blow.

A volcanic tremor lasted for about 25 minutes early today. It
was milder and only half the length of a tremor that followed a
release of steam yesterday, but geologists say the activity is
building toward a major eruption.

An alert level has been raised in the area, and government officials have cleared out hundreds of visitors. But thousands have been flocking to the closest areas that are considered safe. It has been a very busy weekend at the mountain's visitors' centers, as people have packed buildings, crowded parking lots and settled in alongside roads in lawn chairs.
