COLLIN CO., Tex.--A fire just outside of Melissa kept crews from across Collin County busy Sunday afternoon. It happened off of FM 545 between Blue Ridge and Melissa. Authorities say the fire started smoldering around 1:30 this afternoon at the city of Plano’s compost site.

Heavy winds kicked up the flames and spread them to a near by pile of raw lumber, sending the fire out of control. Fire departments from Westminster, Blue Ridge, McKinney and Plano came out to the scene.

Crews put the fire under control by Sunday night and no one was hurt.
