A little boy's memory is honored by his community. A benefit dinner was held Saturday night in honor of 8-year-old Jarred Winegeart. Winegeart was killed October 19th, after his mothers car was broad sided by a pickup truck on Highway 56. Officers on scene said the bright sun kept Winegeart's mother from seeing the truck that hit her car.
Saturday night residents turned out to the Southmayd Elementary school where the Southmayd and Sadler Fire Departments along with the gas station cafe held a benefit dinner. All proceeds go to help the family with funeral expenses.
The event raised more than $6,400 dollars.
