CALERA, Okla. -- The City of Calera is hoping to improve traffic safety. Voters are set to decide if they want a half-cent sales tax to help pay for a traffic signal along Highway 69/75.
City officials say there have been multiple traffic accidents on that stretch of road. Many times those accidents have been deadly.
They say it's especially difficult for drivers to cross the highway going to the east and west sides of town.
"Hopefully we can cut down on fatalities. We need people to at least have a chance to cross the highway safely to do whatever it is they need to do, not only for people in Calera but all over this area," Calera council member Vicki Barkley said.
The election is scheduled for November 13th.
