GRAYSON COUNTY, TX -- An old landmark is now in a new location. TXDOT crews moved the historic Truss Bridge off of Old Sherman Road onto a trailer and took it to its new home at Godwin Park in Whitesboro.

Officials say the plan now is to renovate the bridge to its original 1934 state and incorporate it into a walking path within the park.

A new bridge is being constructed on the site where the historic structure formerly stood.

"We’re trying to preserve history because a lot of people might not have seen these bridges and now we're renovating it and turning it into a walking trail," Grayson County Precinct 3 Commissioner Jackie Crisp says.

Officials say that project is scheduled to be completed in the next 50 days.
