11-25-04 - Thanksgiving in Texoma meant free meals for anyone who needed one. In some cases, restaurants even opened their doors to serve free meals.

In Bonham, the free food was courtesy of Marie and Leonard Gerner. The couple began the tradition 19 years ago by fixing dinner for 15 people who otherwise would have eaten alone. The meal has grown to serve more than 250 people.

Nick’s Restaurant in Denison and the Blue Door Cafe in Sherman served up free food as well.
