CARTER COUNTY, Okla. -- A series of explosions at a Carter County oil well site shut down a state highway and prompted evacuations.
It happened after 6:00 pm Thursday near the Clemscott Community.
Authorities say a live well, a tank battery, and a hot oil transport truck all ignited.
We're told flames could be seen for miles before firefighters arrived.
Three homes were evacuated as a precaution.
Fire crews from Fox-Graham, Ratliff City, Healdton and Wilson responded.
Ratliff City Police Chief Robert Thornton says one firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion.
Residents were allowed back home around 8:30 pm Thursday.
No word on a cause.
