Bridge Collapse Injures Driver

12-1-04 – A bridge in Atoka County collapsed over a creek, injuring one man Wednesday morning. It happened a half mile south of Tushka on County Road 69, known as "The Old Highway."

According to troopers, 33 year old Herbert Whorton drove into a creek around 6:15 a.m. Wednesday. Investigators say the bridge may have collapsed the night before.

The driver is in fair condition at a Durant hospital with internal injuries.
