12-1-04 – Jefferson and Dickson Elementary Schools in Ardmore are participating in a medical experiment to help fight obesity.
Since the start of the school year, 90 students took a survey about their exercise and eating habits. The students involved in the study will wear pedometers over the next six months to monitor their activity, as well as listen to different medical speakers.
They will take the same survey again in May, and the results will be given to the National American Medical Association.
The experiment’s organizers hope it will change the way young people live their lives. More schools could adopt the program if it turns out to be a success.
