Deputy Injured in Accident

12-4-04- A Grayson County Sheriff's Deputy was injured in an accident on Highway 5 near Van Alstyne Saturday evening. The deputy was taken to Wilson N. Jones Medical Center following the accident.

Authorities say the deputy suffered neck and shoulder injuries, but none life-threatening.

It happened just after 7:00 p.m. Saturday evening. The deputy was traveling north on Highway 5 in Van Alstyne when another car failed to yield the right of way and backed into the officer.

Authorities believe the officer was traveling the speed limit when the car backed into him. Sheriff's officials are not releasing the deputy's name.

The driver of the other vehicle was ticketed for failing to yield.
