12-7-04 – Classes are cancelled again Tuesday as investigators try to determine the cause of an early morning blaze at the high school in St. Jo, Texas. Firefighters from 11 different departments were called to the old gymnasium on campus just before 1:00 a.m. Monday.

It took firefighters two hours to put out the flames. The 65-year-old structure is considered a total loss, but authorities say the rest of the school did not sustain damages.

Gas and electric services have been shut off and two walls of the old gym remain standing. Officials say the walls must be torn down or secured before classes can resume.

No cause has been determined. The Fire Marshall’s office is investigating.

St. Jo is located approximately 20 miles west of Gainesville, in Montague County.
