10-28-04 - The opponent of Democrat Terry Hyman in the race for Oklahoma House District 49 has complained to the district attorney, and now the state could step in to investigate. Republican Wanda Cruson claims Hyman filed two homestead exemptions on property in Payne and Love counties – which is illegal.

Today First News confirmed with the Love County Tax Assessor that Hyman indeed filed on both homes. Hyman moved to the district in the past year after working at Oklahoma State University.

Cruson’s complaint was then passed from the DA to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. They’re investigation could begin next week.

Today, Hyman says he hadn’t done anything wrong, and looks forward to the OSBI’s report. If the violation is found to be true, it would be a misdemeanor under state law.
