Industry Eyes Sherman for New Plant

Video will be available shortly.

10-29-04 - Sherman is on the short list for a major industrial employer. It's called Project Dakota, and it could bring more than 1,000 jobs to Texoma and millions of dollars in capital investment.

The company, which the city will not name yet, is looking at empty plants and land in Sherman. Sherman Economic Development Corporation officials say they are putting together an incentive package, as well as the city.

City officials are looking into an enterprise zone program that would allow them to offer this company incentives like tax abatements, sales tax refunds and utility reductions. The council will be meeting in the near future to discuss these incentives.
