ARDMORE, Okla. -- Everyone across the state of Oklahoma is celebrating the state’s Centennial year in a big way. Even several schools in southern Oklahoma are kicking things off with a bang.

Will Rogers Elementary celebrated with its own version of fireworks. All the students gathered outside and formed a shape of the state.

Pictures were taken from a cherry picker courtesy of the Ardmore Fire Department.

"We decided we were going to make the state out of the students celebrating the state of Oklahoma and asked the fire department to help us." Will Rogers Elementary principal Cynthia Hunter said.

To prepare for the celebration, students are learning about important events throughout the state’s history.
