12-16-04 – Two million dollars worth of improvements are coming to Grayson County highways, most of the money will be used to pay for concrete barriers on highway 75.

The goal is to prevent head on collisions like the accident that killed ten people in September. Barrier construction along a ten mile stretch of Highway 75 between Sherman and Howe is expected to begin as early as spring.

Another project will place a flashing light at the intersection of Highway 75 and FM 691.

Texas lawmakers announced the decision to fund road improvements across the state Wednesday. Governor Rick Perry said 600 million dollars will be used to improve more than 2,300 miles of Texas Highway.

Bonds, approved by voters in 2003 and gas taxes will pay for the projects.
