GRAYSON COUNTY, Tex. -- Grayson County Commissioners voted Monday morning to change the name of the Grayson County Airport. Starting Monday, the airport will be known as the North Texas Regional Airport at Perrin Field.

The airport board approved the name change two weeks ago, but commissioners had to weigh in before it was made official.

Officials say the new name lets everyone know the airport serves the entire region and not exclusively Grayson County, and that will bring in more traffic and business to the area.

Coming up tonight on First News at Five, we will take a look at what’s next for newly renamed airport.

Mindy, your the reason our show got canceled so go away - you can't act & your behind on child support. It takes alot to feed our son Jonathan Winters so I need some help here woman. As far as the airport there will be passenger flights out of this airport in the future (10 years /-) but a small aircraft such as American Eagle don't count as Jumbo Jets. Billy, I believe this airport was built for large aircraft. Theres a lot of potential here.

on plain does not count for everyday use by humbo jets it would take a better run way yes you can bring a couple in but its will do like a road and start going bad i hope they fix it and do fly the big jets in cheap air fair so phil i am not saying it cant be done i am just saying they need to work on the runway:)

Hey billy, I'm probably wasting my time here but, Go down to the tower and look at that huge Russian transport sitting by the terminal building. How do you think it got there?

ya ok boo boo the city would not want to spend the money to do that they cant even think for them selfs they always have to ask outhers for help and that old air port to make it usable they would have to make new runwayswith thicker concret and longer if they did that than it would work but i aint holding my breath

billy.. you would be VERY wrong if you think it can't handle large aircraft. It could become an active Air Force base so fast your head would spin.

When will they start passenger flights out of this airport? Now that would boost the local economy.
