12-23-04 - Day two of a blistering winter storm means treacherous roads for Texoma motorists. A mix of winter weather that fell much of Wednesday has caused a mess on North Texas and Southern Oklahoma streets.
Temperatures dropped overnight, freezing the powder and slush and creating a dangerous morning commute.
Road crews are sanding streets Thursday morning, but authorities are still urging caution because many side streets, not as frequently traveled, are iced over. However, major highways in the area are clear, drivers seeing few problems on Highway 75.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Department is asking drivers to be aware of black ice in the Tishomingo area. Some steep hills in Denison are also causing problems. Deputies in Pushmataha County also say the roads are very icy, especially on Highway 93 and on Highway Two.
One minor accident has been reporter early Thursday morning, but Grayson County DPS says there were no injuries.
Icy conditions are expected to stick around throughout Thursday.
