ARDMORE, Okla. -- The Ardmore Fire Department is scheduled to be honored Monday night for protecting their community. The department will receive the Safe Kids “Coalition Project of the Year” Award.
It's a state-wide honor given to the firefighters for making sure child car seats are properly installed. Once a month, parents can come to the Ardmore Fire Station on Rockford to make sure their child's seat is fastened in properly. If not, firefighters correct the problem and will also provide a new seat if they come across one that has been recalled.
"They can come in on the third Friday of every month. It also makes parents aware the proper placement of car seats,” says Jeremy Flowers of the Ardmore Fire Department.
Replacement car seats are provided by local charities in Ardmore. Firefighters encourage anyone with a car seat to come by and make sure it's safely installed.
