12-24-04 – Sherman firefighters spent Christmas Eve morning battling a fire in the southeast part of town. No injuries are reported, but a home is completely destroyed. Smoke could be seen for miles, as far as Denison.
Friday, the fire department was called to the 1200 block of Mitchell Street just before 7:00 a.m.
The home was engulfed in flames; it is completely destroyed and considered a total loss.
Firefighters say the cold weather made putting out the flames more difficult. Below freezing temperatures caused equipment troubles; however they were able to contain the fire and save nearby homes.
