12-28-04 – The second fire in a Grayson County neighborhood in less than a week kept firefighters busy Monday night.

A two-story home on Mitchell Road was completely destroyed. The home was undergoing renovations and the owners were not living in the house at the time of the fire.

At passer-by saw flames and called firefighters around 9:30 p.m. Six fire departments assisted in fighting the fire, which could be seen for miles. The lack of a water source made the effort more difficult. There are no water mains or hydrants in that neighborhood.

One firefighter sustained minor injuries. He twisted an ankle and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The cause is under investigation.

Christmas Eve morning, another home on the same street was destroyed by flames. No one was injured, but the family lost all of their belongings and Christmas presents. That fire was ruled accidental.
