11-10-04 – An Ardmore police officer is recovering from minor injuries after he was dragged during a chase late Tuesday night.
Just after 11 p.m., officers were called to a neighborhood near Refinery Road. Police believe Larry James Echenbacher was going door to door, asking for money for gas.
Officers asked the man to get out of his vehicle, but he refused. An officer reached inside Echenbacher’s Jeep for the keys; the suspect hit the gas and dragged the officer several feet. The officer was able to get free, but sustained minor injuries.
Authorities say Echenbacher continued to drive, reaching speeds of up to 90 mph. He finally stopped at Harmony Lane, but resisted arrest.
He was booked into the Carter County Jail.
