11-12-04 – A local music star who made it big came back to Texoma for a live show Thursday night. Blake Shelton, of Ada, left Oklahoma when he was 17 years old to try his luck in Nashville.

After three years of trying, he got a record contract and after seven years, he had his first hit single with “Austin.” He says it was a long road to get where he is today, but it was his love of country music and performing that kept him going.

Blake’s concert at the Cutter’s club in Denison was sold out.

Every Tuesday, tune into First News at 10 for more on Blake and other local stars trying to make it big. The Road to Nashville starts Tuesday, November 16th at 10 p.m.
