Scott Peterson Found Guilty

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. (AP) - A California jury has found Scott
Peterson guilty of first-degree murder in the death of his pregnant
wife Laci.

That charge could carry the death penalty or life without
parole. The panel also found Peterson guilty of second-degree murder in the death of his unborn son, Conner.

The verdicts were announced this afternoon, just over five
months after the start of opening statements.

Jurors first got the case last week, but have had to re-start
deliberations twice as alternates were brought in.

The judge told the jury to return for the penalty phase of the
trial, which will begin November 22nd. He says they should begin
considering Peterson's punishment November 30th.
