ARDMORE, Okla. - The countdown to Christmas is on in Ardmore. It kicked off Tuesday night with the annual tree lighting. Hundreds of people turned out to take part in the festivities leading up to the lighting at around 6:30 p.m.

The event was sponsored by the Goddard Center and the Main Street Authority. KXII-TV’s own Lisanne Anderson was there, counting down for the officials who flipped the switch.

The parade went down from the park to the depot downtown. East Ironworks won a float category, as did the Ardmore High School Band.

The Toys for Tots Southern Oklahoma Childrens' parade will roll through downtown Ardmore around 11 a.m. this Saturday.

There were 5 bands in the total of 68 entries scheduled to be in the Parade of Lights but do to the cold rainy weather they were unable to perform. Hope next years weather is better.

I second that Ardmore. And why weren't there more local bands there. I sure hope we have a better band turnout this Saturday. I love a parade.

Tishomingo band did an excellent job. I agree with Ardmore why weren't there any local bands in the parade. I drove 45 minutes to come watch the what I thought was going to be an exciting night of fun with the family. I get to the park to watch the tree come to life about an hour after the KXII website said it would be turned on. Then the parade was a joke, not enough entries and there was alot of space in between many of the entries. Won't be back next year.
