ANNA, Tex. -- A shooting overnight in Anna sent three people to the hospital. Police Chief Kenny Jenks says a woman was home with her boyfriend and three young children in the 1600 block of Elm Street when Roger Batt of Plano tried to break in the back door.

The boyfriend was reportedly trying to hold the door shut when he was shot in the chest, through the glass. The man was airlifted to Parkland Hospital in Dallas, where he underwent surgery and was released.

When police arrived on scene, Batt actually pulled a rifle on the officer. The officer was able to push the gun to the floor though, and Batt surrendered.

The chief says the woman, who was pregnant, was also sent to Parkland after being assaulted with the gun, and the Batt turned out to be the woman's ex-husband.

Batt was taken to the hospital, where he was released and taken to the Collin County Jail. He now faces felony charges.

If he is still writing her it is because she still want's to hear from him. The jail or prison that he is in can stop any out going mail to the victim of the crime if she so wants.. but does she really want it?????????

Jackie..they actually WERE married. And you were not his great love..he was obsessed with shelly since she was 14 years old...and he STILL writes her from prison telling her how much he loves and misses her and that he messed up big time...so these reporters were actually quite accurate on their postings.

Roger was never the ex-husband - they were never married. I was unfortunately Roger's "great love", and he even kept pursuing me before and after he had kids with her...really responsible reporting you smart journalists!!! Amd yes, Roger does belong in jail. I am lucky that when I was with him he had not graduated from verbal abuse to physical yet!

All anyone can do is pray for justice. He doesnt deserve to live life outside of prison. It is really too bad he is still alive...But apparently God has other plans for him. Because he is lucky the police didnt shoot him. My prayers go out to the children that were involved.

If this guy is a multiple offender and his intensions were to murder, why is he still in the streets? Texas has the Death Penalty, use it!!! I'm so tired of hearing about multiple and DANGEROUS offenders out on the streets plotting their next move. It's makes me sick to my stomach the "RIGHTS" these people have.

He won't get much that is Collin County they will put him in jail for a while and he will be out again before you know it, this idot did that to my husband and he would have never walked back out of my house they wouldn't had to worry about taking him to jail and he sure would have not made it to the hospital
