Showers and a few thunderstorms will continue across Texoma today. Some of the storms may produce locally heavy rainfall and gusty winds.
DENISON, Tex. – A false fire alarm at a Denison elementary school got students and teachers out of class for about an hour on Thursday. It happened shortly after noon at Lamar Elementary in Denison.
When the fire alarm sounded, everyone at the school was able to evacuate within minutes including more than 100 students eating lunch inside the cafeteria.
"We had 120 students evacuate in under a minute. When we checked everyone was accounted for, in their places, a minute and a half tops," Lamar Elementary principal Janet Mobley said.
The Denison Fire Department checked the situation out and determined it was safe for everyone to go back to class before 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon.
