Serving as Mom & Soldier

Video will be available shortly.

11-17-04 - A soldier has returned from Iraq to her hometown of Bonham – 10 months after she left her newborn daughter behind. Army Specialist Juana Ventura is the new breed of female soldier – fighting for her country while trying to mother her child from half a world away.

Juana gave birth to Brianna just five months before she left for Iraq. While there, she worked as a fueler, stationed just north of Tikrit. Juana is home for a 15-day leave, and will return to Iraq for several more months. She is with the Army's 1st Infantry Division.
