Teen Linked to Pipe Bomb, Free on Bond

Video will be available shortly.

11-22-04 - DALLAS (AP) A teenager with a stockpile of explosives in his bedroom is free on 40,000 dollars' bail.

Daniel Lucas Beech was freed from Collin County jail in McKinney Saturday after he was charged with arson and possession of explosive components.

The 17-year-old was arrested in the Dallas suburb of Melissa after a report of an explosion near his home. Police said Beech and another juvenile had exploded a pipe bomb in a creek near the home Thursday, which prompted the investigation.

Officers found homemade black gunpowder, blasting caps and a pipe bomb made from materials at the house.

Detectives say they plan to interview the teenager and hoped to learn his plans for the explosives. He could face additional charges if police determine he was plotting an attack.
