Child Dies in Accident

11-21-04- An 11 year old Texas girl was killed Sunday afternoon in a tragic accident in McCurtain County while her father and 8 year old brother are still fighting for their lives.

The accident happened around 3:20 Sunday afternoon on a county road about nine miles north of Valliant.

A 33 year old Ringold, Oklahoma man lost control of his 1974 Jeep while pulling a trailer. The Jeep hit an embankment and flipped. All four people inside were ejected.

11 year old Whitney McKelvey, of Bagwell, Texas was killed at the scene and her 8 year old brother Ryan was flown to a Little Rock, Arkansas hospital with serious injuries.

The children's father, Robert, is in stable condition at a Tyler, Texas hospital, as is another passenger, 37 year old Dana Gambo.

Troopers say no one was wearing a seatbelt.
