Dangerous Toys; A Warning for Parents

Video will be available shortly.

11-23-04 – Hospitals report more emergency room visits among children during the holidays. Eleven children died and 150,000 were sent to emergency rooms across the country after suffering injuries while playing with toys.

The Federal Government warns parents to use extra caution when shopping for holiday gifts this season. First, officials say parents need to go by age recommendations on toy packing. Toys may contain small parts or sharp edges that could injure a toddler.

Several popular toys have been recalled. The Bat Mobile by Mattel, certain makes of the Bumble Bee toys and some ride-on toys have been recalled by the Consumer Product Safety Commission. The Commission also states the Nerf Big Play Football and Carter’s Children’s Mirror Books both presented a risk for lacerations.
