Hillary Clinton Collapses During Speech

01-31-05 - Senator Hillary Clinton collapsed at an appearance in Buffalo New York Monday where she was delivering a speech on Social Security. The senator and former First Lady was not taken to the hospital according to an aide. She was expected to continue with her schedule. The aide said she was speaking in a warm room in front of 150 people when she had to sit down, and fainted. The aide, who remained anonymous, said Clinton had been suffering from some sort of 24-hour virus.

Senator Clinton was elected to the Senate from New York in 2000. She
replaced Democrat Daniel Patrick Moynihan when he retired. The 57-year old Clinton has long been a lightning rod for conservatives. She plans to run for re-election in 2006, and is considered a leading
contender for the 2008 Democratic presidential nomination.
