Emergency Services on the Line

Video will be available shortly.

11-24-04 – The Colbert City Council and the Bryan County EMS met for more than two hours Tuesday night to decide the fate of Colbert’s ambulance service. For now, both groups recommend Colbert’s service continue making runs.

The controversy began two weeks ago when Colbert EMS Director, Jack Shackleford, was relieved of his duties. The Oklahoma Department of Health began investigating the service that weekend. The service was understaffed as a result of Shackleford’s departure.

The City Council named a new interim director Tuesday night. However, the decision to continue services is not final. Officials plan to meet with EMS employees to resolve several personnel issues.
