Widespread Illness Cancels Classes

Video will be available shortly.

2-1-05 - A north Texas school district has shut down for two days due to dozens of students sick with a flu-like illness. Blue Ridge, a small district near the Collin/Fannin County line, won’t re-open until Thursday.

School leaders say 21 percent of their 691 students were absent on Monday. The symptoms vary from nausea to sore throat and stomach pains. Health officials have not pinpointed exactly what the illness is but believe it to be the flu, a stomach virus, or bronchitis.
