New bling for baseball team

DURANT, Okla. -- Some southern Oklahoma teens will be sporting some new jewelry- when they go to school tomorrow. Members of the 17-and-under American Legion baseball team received their national championship rings Monday night.

The Dyson Motors team from Durant won the national tournament in Louisiana back in August. Monday night coaches awarded these players from all across southeastern Oklahoma for their accomplishments this year.

Organizers held an awards banquet and fundraiser to help pay for that bling at a price tag of about $650 apiece.

“This is the first time anyone from our program, the American Legion, has been to the national tournament and to go the first time and win is pretty exciting for these kids," says Zach Crabtree, coach of the program.

Coaches say many of the players go onto to play college baseball.

If anyone would like to help the students pay for the rings, they are asked to contact Larry Dyson Motors at 580-924-1418 and ask to speak with Mark Ellis.
