United Way Short Of Goal

Video will be available shortly.

02-16-05 – The United Way wrapped up their campaign in Grayson County, falling more then $200,000 short of their goal of $1.4 million. The loss of jobs and the recent tsunami disaster had a negative effect on donations.

Last year, the industry in the area donated $1 million, but this year, the United Way received only 60% of that. New donations, however, were up 105% from last year.

With Tyson on its way, United Way officials think more industrial donations will come and that the food giant will replace Johnson and Johnson with a generous donation.

22 non-profit organizations depend on United Way Funds.
