2-17-05 – At least four students in the Pottsboro School District overdosed on drugs during school hours. Two students from the high school and two eighth graders were rushed to Texoma Medical Center Wednesday morning.

Around 11:00 a.m., police officers were called to the school because one male student was violently ill. Investigators say at least three others had to be hospitalized, but there could be as many as six students taking the drugs.

Authorities say a potentially deadly combination of methadone, marijuana, Xanax and others were taken by the teens. Police say the students took the drugs on the school bus after one of the boys, a 17-year-old, allegedly stole pills from his parent’s medicine cabinet.

The school district’s only comment is that they are cooperating with police on this on-going investigation.

The teen who allegedly distributed the drugs to his friends could face criminal charges.
