OHP Investigates Former Sheriff

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating former Pushmataha County Sheriff Elvin Flood. The inquiry surrounds dozens of missing files.

The OHP launched the investigation on February 3rd. Although they won’t confirm why, the newly elected Sheriff, Jimmy Duncan, says he noticed the files missing when he took office in January. They included criminal and administration files from the sheriff's department and book-in records from the jail.

Duncan told First News that OHP troopers have since seized those files from Flood’s home. So far, only some of them have been returned to the sheriff's department.

First News spoke to Flood today by phone, but he refused to comment on the investigation.

A spokesperson for the OHP says they will be interviewing ninety witnesses.
