ANTLERS, Okla. -- The holidays took a dangerous turn for law enforcement in Antlers, Oklahoma on Monday. An Oklahoma Highway Patrol spokesman says a nearly three-hour standoff has ended peacefully.

Authorities say the man fired shots inside his home Monday morning. Officials say he did not take any hostages, and no one was in danger but law enforcement did block off a two-block radius around the home on Northeast D and Eighth Street.

Troopers are not releasing the man's name, but do say he has a prior criminal history.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol negotiators talked to the man for about fifty minutes. Then they say he dismantled his weapon, walked out the front door, and was taken into custody.

No word on what charges the man faces.

How right you are Donna. Things are definitely looking up. Now let's hope people read Kat's post about getting educated about such issues. (NAMI) Heaven forbid something like it happens to them but you never know. My son was & still is very intelligent. Honor Roll in elementary school. Very well behaved, loving son & brother so if people think it can't happen to them I hope they think again. Education is the best answer to nip this in the bud before it gets out of control. With therapy & the right medication it can. The information wasn't out there in '87 but now it is & they need to learn. Friends, neighbors & family can support one another instead of shunning the innocent victims. Hopefully people will read this & know with love, support & prayer, things can turn around.

Yes it's Mom again. Maybe I'm out of line doing this but as Kat in Wisconsin put it, I'm trying a a last ditch effort cry for help. My son was diagnosed depressed back in 1987. He was placed on anti-depreassants as fast as he was taken off. Reason? He was turning 18 & insurance wouldn't cover anymore. 1 year later He got in some trouble. Misdemeanor spoke of earlier. I think he's done a damn good job controling his anger & emotions considering his circumstances. Married. Raising 3 great kids. Here we are. Almost 20 years later & he did something some would think stupid. It wasn't him! He's been diagnosed with bi-polar disease. WAKE UP! READ IT AGAIN ANTLERS! DISEASE! Who heard of bi-polar disease back in 1987? As my grandson, Robert Nicholas posted, "Yes he needs to be in a mental facilty. My father is a good person. Just a SICK person." He doesn't have the plague. No need to shun him & his family. He needs HELP! What are you going to do? Make Jennifer right about Antlers morons?

Don't move Cat. I'm trying to bring in the big guns in now. Hopefully we'll get them in & shut down the lies of the OHP. Maybe even KXII will recognize the name if I can get it done & report the truth.

That's OK Donna. A little touch of dajavu. (sp? just in case Jennifer is monitoring) Lord knows I don't want to be an Antlers nor a CA. moron. That's what all my kids friends use to call me when they were growing up. My name is Bobbie.

Donna and Mom, I don't know what we'd do without you guys. You've stood by us and loved us unconditionally. We are so grateful. I am up to here with the antics and ignorance that seems to be spreading like wildfire here in town. And I find it damn odd that KXII can report what OHP told them but they don't want to hear our side! I guess it's a crime to be mentally ill here. Oh well, just another reason I'm glad we're getting out of this town. Anyway, thank you on behalf of our family. We love you and appreciate you both more than you'll ever know!

I know that now Donna. Talked to Nick. In case he didn't tell you for me, thank you so very much for standing by him & his family. I'm sure they've told you, but both Nick & Cathy think the world of you too. He said you're his "best friend". Me in CA, them being there, what more could I ask for? You must have been heaven sent.
