02-22-05 - NORTHLAKE, Texas (AP) - Texas authorities say the man charged with killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend and her seven-year-old son has admitted suffocating both victims.
Fort Worth Police Lieutenant Gene Jones says two bodies have been found in a shallow grave in Denton County, 25 miles north of Fort Worth. The bodies are consistent with the victims' ages.
Jones says Stephen Barbee was arrested and charged with capital
murder after admitting he killed Lisa Underwood and her son, Jayden.
According to an affidavit, Barbee told police he killed the boy because he came into the room during the attack on his mother. Barbee said he'd been arguing with Underwood over whether he should leave his wife.
Police say Barbee guided them to the grave. He allegedly carried the bodies there in his S-U-V.
Underwood was seven months pregnant and Barbee's arrest warrant
says he was the father.
