2-21-05 - Ardmore police are looking for a man who tried to abduct a deaf woman from outside the Ardmore public library. But the woman says she was initially approached in an internet chat room.
The 24-year-old was taking part in a deaf chat room when a person with the screen name of Big Bear 19455 kept messaging her. He finally told the girl to meet him outside the library at the flagpole. Frightened, the woman left to go home, but once outside she claims a man in a station wagon offered her a ride home. The victim, who can read lips, says the man told her he’d give her a ride. But when she refused, she claims he tried to pull her inside the car.
She managed to escape and ran home. Police are especially concerned because the case began on the Internet.
They’re looking for a white male around 30-years-old with brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and driving a green station wagon with a chrome luggage rack.
