Fallen Soldier Honored

12-12-04- Sgt. Luke Boatright loved to ride motorcycles with his dad and his friends at the Lake Texoma American Legion. Sunday, those friends made a memorial ride and dedicated a new patch to their fallen friend.

24 year old Sgt. Boatright, whose father lives in Denison, went to school in Frisco, but called Texoma home. For his friends at the American Legion, news of his death last weekend near Baghdad was heartbreaking.

Sunday, the bikers wore a memorial patch on their jackets and rode from Pottsboro to Frisco, where a memorial was held for Boatright.

Sgt. Boatright was stationed at Fort Hood. He was on patrol outside of Baghdad when a roadside bomb exploded. Five other soldiers were injured.

Sgt. Boatright leaves behind a wife and three children. A funeral ceremony will be helf Monday in Frisco. The soldier will be laid to rest Tuesday at the Sam Houston Cemetery in San Antonio.
