PETTY, Tex. -- A New Year's Eve celebration turned into an argument, ending in gun fire in Petty, Texas, northeast of Honey Grove.

Officials say Melonie McKinney was upset with her boyfriend, Jorge Estinoza Martinez, because he arrived home late. When the two started to argue, she set his clothes on fire and then started shooting at his truck.

That was when authorities say she shot Martinez once in the arm.

McKinney is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, but was released on $10,000 bond.

Martinez was not seriously injured.

To all of you who point and say "Guilty" without knowing any more than what this article says, I hope you never get picked for an unbiased jury. And the picture is a MUG shot, not a glamour shot. Another article said he choked her. Anybody ever heard of "self-defense" or are you the type who blame women being abused? True, a gun was extreme, but get the facts.

If this would have been a man, the punishment would have probably been far worse. Women fought so hard to be treated as an equal to our male counter parts, so thats what needs to happen. She looks slightly butch anyway, who would know the difference? I agree with the first post, women are probably worse then men, only because they think they can get away with whatever and that needs to come to a hault!
