Ringling Coach Seriously Injured

2-25-05 – Ringling football coach Rick Gandy underwent surgery in Oklahoma City Friday afternoon to fuse together neck vertebrae after a horse riding accident. The accident happened on Tuesday when Gandy was trying to mend a hurt cow on his ranch. He was thrown from the horse he was riding on and hit his head.

The accident has left the entire town in shock. Gandy has been with the program for over three decades, and just two years ago, he coached the Blue Devils to a state championship.

Ringling High Schools says they have received calls from coaches across the state offering condolences.

Staff members and players plan to make the trip to Oklahoma City to see the coach.
