Stars Grasp Oscar Gold

Video will be available shortly.

2-28-05 - LOS ANGELES (AP) After winning the best actor Oscar, Jamie Foxx made an unusual admission: he couldn't wait to go to sleep.

The actor says that's when he talks with his late grandmother Estelle, who he credits with shaping his life.

No doubt sleep won't come easy, though, with the excitement of snagging the top actor prize and tying the record of wins for black actors at the Academy Awards.

In his acceptance speech, Foxx also thanked Sidney Poitier, whom he met years ago, for giving him "responsibility."

Foxx was double-nominated this year as both supporting actor for "Collateral" and best actor for "Ray."

It was only the second time in the Oscars' 77-year history that blacks earned two of the four acting awards. Morgan Freeman won best supporting actor for his role in "Million Dollar Baby."

A humble Clint Eastwood says "You just do the best you can."

Eastwood's boxing film "Million Dollar Baby" was heavyweight champ at the Oscars, winning best picture, best director for Eastwood and two of the acting honors.

Hilary Swank won best actress for her portrayal of a bullheaded female boxer in "Million Dollar Baby." It's Swank's second Oscar -- the first was for "Boys Don't Cry." She told the crowd she doesn't know what she did to deserve the accolades. Swank says she's "just a girl from a trailer park who had a dream."

"The Aviator" came away with the most Oscars. The five awards include the supporting-actress prize for Cate Blanchett.
