01-4-05 – Just before 1 a.m. Tuesday, Love County Sheriff’s Deputies and Thackerville Police Officers began a pursuit with a wanted man driving a stolen pickup truck. Chad Michael Brown of Wilson refused to pull over. The pursuit ended at a dead end of old Highway 77 south toward the river.
After Brown used the pickup truck in a threatening manner against the officers, six lawmen opened fire hitting Brown several times. A female occupant was hit once. Both are in area hospitals.
The Love County Sheriff requested OSBI to investigate the shooting. Investigators are in the process of interviewing the officers at the scene. OSBI is in constant verbal contact with the District Attorney’s office. The D.A. will decide whether the shooting was justified.
