1-03-05 – Oklahoma smokers will pay more for cigarettes in 2005. On January 1st, a new law went into effect raising the price for a pack of cigarettes $.80 to help provide better healthcare. So far, store clerks in Oklahoma say they are still selling like normal.

Some store owners feared the new law would drive customers into Texas to buy cigarettes. At a convenience store in Denison, you could buy the same pack for almost $.70 cheaper than in Oklahoma.

Some customers say they are willing to pay more for the packs, but others say they will quit before they buy another cigarette.
