3-02-05 – While looking for holding tanks, officials at Lake Bonham found the source that has been polluting the lake’s water. Three small lines connecting to one main sewer line were discovered confirming last year’s study that revealed increased amounts of sewer waste.

Last December, the city of Bonham terminated leases with 25 tenants at the Hidden Cove RV Campsite. They claimed that the site was polluting the water with sewage waste. Residents denied it, but the clean-up proved what the city had suspected.

It is possible more lines are still underground.

The city will turn the investigation over to the county and state, with fines or punishment possible for those responsible for the illegal lines.
