TULSA, Okla. (AP) - The Oklahoma Army National Guard is looking
for volunteers. The Guard fell 104 recruits short of its target for last year and is 300 behind so far this year.

Nationwide, the Army Guard is about 5,000 recruits below
its goal.

Lieutenant Colonel Greg Davis says Guard units being sent more
often to war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan is affecting the number
of recruits.

But Davis says the Guard isn't recruiting anyone under the false
pretense that he or she won't be mobilized for duty in a war zone.
He says the latest recruiting tool is patriotism and showing recruits they have a chance to serve their country and defend freedom.

The Oklahoma Army National Guard has 6,795 members with a goal of 7,150 at the end of the fiscal year on September 30th.
