1-12-05 – Troopers are investigating a school bus accident near Gunter Wednesday morning. According to the Department of Public Safety, the driver of a school bus slammed into the back of a minivan, sending it sliding into a ditch off Highway 289.

Authorities say an argument between an estranged husband and wife ended up on the road.

The 66 passenger bus had just made a drop off at Gunter elementary school around 8:00 a.m. and no students were on board when the bus rear-ended a minivan.

A DPS trooper says the driver of the van, the husband of the bus driver, may have pulled in front of the bus; causing the wreck.

After the accident, the bus driver did not stop. She drove back to a bus yard in McKinney.

No major injuries are reported, however both vehicles were damaged.

School officials say they are relieved no children were involved in the accident and have no plans on switching bus service providers.

No word yet on what charges, if any, will be filed.
