1-12-05 - One man is trying to save the lives of others with a petition. Rick Bowling lost a friend two weeks ago to a deadly train collision at highway 377 and Lynch Crossing Road, when a train struck a pick-up truck. The intersection doesn’t have warning lights or crossing arms.
Of the five intersections in the small Grayson County city, that is the only one without those features. Bowling started collecting signatures just yesterday and already has 16 pages full of names.
On December 27th, 81-year-old Amos Penn died when a train hit his pick-up. Authorities believe he never saw the train coming.
Tex-Dot is considering warning lights. The $170,000 project will be discussed this year but even if its approved - work won't start until 2006.
